Art Therapy – Creative Connections – Ages 10-14

December 2 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

Join United for Waukesha Resiliency Center and Bloom Art and Integrated Therapies for Creative Connections Art Therapy program. This group is designed for youth primarily ages 10- years old and will be scheduled to meet biweekly 6:00-7:00pm. Participants can expect an open studio-style experience where you are invited to explore, create and connect through art and community with experienced support staff available for deeper reflection as needed. This holistic approach addresses both emotional and cognitive aspects of healing and can encourage mood improvement, self-expression, catharsis, relaxation and stress-reduction.

United for Waukesha Resiliency Center supports the community affected by the Waukesha Christmas Parade tragedy through no cost, mental health programming.

Benefits of Art Therapy for Youth:

  • Emotional Expression and Regulation: Art therapy provides a safe space for young people to express feelings they may struggle to put into words. This creative outlet can help them process emotions like anger, sadness, or anxiety, leading to better emotional regulation.
  • Improved Self-Esteem and Confidence: Creating art helps build a sense of accomplishment, boosting self-esteem. It can also foster resilience as youth learn to appreciate their unique abilities and accept imperfections in their work.
  • Enhanced Communication Skills: For children who have difficulty verbalizing their thoughts, art can serve as an alternative form of communication. This can be particularly beneficial for those experiencing trauma or developmental challenges, helping them convey their experiences and feelings more effectively.
